Jonathan congratulates French president-elect

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan congratulates Francois Hollande, the President-elect of France on his victory in Sunday’s run-off presidential elections.
The 57-year-old Socialist, Francois Hollandeon,  Sunday defeated Nicolas Sarkozy in a close race leading to street parties in France.
Jonathan n a statement  endorsed by  Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), salutes the people of France on the success of the elections which he describes as not only a triumph of democracy but also a clear testimony to the maturity and age-long tradition of democracy in France.
The President  the statement  looks forward to working with Mr. Hollande and his incoming government to further strengthen the cordial and mutually-beneficial relations between Nigeria and France.
President Jonathan expects that under Mr. Hollande’s leadership, France will remain a strong supporter of global action to promote democracy, good governance and rapid socio-economic development in Africa.
As he prepares to formally assume office in a few days’ time, President Jonathan assures Mr. Hollande that Nigeria will continue to work with France in the quest for peace, political stability and prosperity in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the rest of Africa and other under-developed nations of the world.
President Jonathan wishes Mr. Hollande a very successful tenure in the service of the people of France.
